Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains how TheCareers may collect, use, store and protect information when you use the website, create an account, upload a CV, save jobs, track applications, or use personalized career tools.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on the features you use, this may include account details such as name and email address; optional phone number; CV files and text extracted from them; structured CV analysis such as skills, experience, education, languages, inferred job titles and search preferences; saved-job and application-tracking data; technical and security logs; and preferences stored in your browser.

3. CVs and sensitive documents

CV upload is available only to signed-in users. CV files are stored in a private account-bound storage area. Database access controls are designed so an authenticated user can access only that user's own CV records and analysis. The current CV analyzer extracts PDF, DOCX or TXT text and performs rule-based analysis for job-search personalization. Scanned image-only PDFs may not be analyzable yet.

4. How information is used

We use information to provide and secure the service, analyze CVs, infer relevant roles and skills, personalize job-search queries and match scores, maintain saved jobs/application tracking, diagnose faults, prevent abuse, and improve the platform.

5. Job-source and third-party links

TheCareers indexes or links to job information from third-party sources. When you follow an external job link, the destination site's privacy practices apply. We do not control third-party websites.

6. Sharing and sale of personal data

We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by infrastructure or service providers only as needed to operate or secure the platform, or disclosed where required by applicable law.

7. Security

We use authentication, private storage, row-level database access controls, least-privilege policies, security scanning and other safeguards. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Retention

Information is retained only as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, service security, legitimate operational needs, and applicable legal requirements. Retention periods may be refined as the beta service develops.

9. Your choices and requests

You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or clarification regarding personal information associated with your use of TheCareers, subject to applicable law and legitimate security/record-keeping requirements. Requests may require reasonable identity verification before account-bound data is disclosed or deleted.

10. Phone verification

An optional phone-number field may be stored in a user's profile. SMS/OTP phone verification is not currently enabled. If enabled later, this policy will be updated as needed to describe the verification provider and processing involved.

11. Cookies, local storage and telemetry

TheCareers may use browser storage that is necessary for authentication, security, saved-job state, preferences and reliable app operation. Privacy-minimized technical telemetry may be used to diagnose failures and performance without intentionally collecting CV text or other sensitive document content. We do not currently enable third-party advertising cookies. Any future optional advertising or non-essential tracking must not be enabled before appropriate notice and consent where required.

12. Children

TheCareers is intended for users seeking employment or career opportunities and is not designed as a service for children. Do not submit a child's personal information through the service.

13. Accessibility

We aim to provide keyboard-operable controls, labelled form fields, meaningful image alternatives, visible focus states and readable contrast. If a page or feature is difficult to use with assistive technology, contact support@thecareers.net and identify the affected page or control.

14. Email preferences

TheCareers does not currently operate a promotional email subscription from this public beta interface. If promotional or bulk marketing email is introduced, each applicable message must include a working unsubscribe method. Essential account, security and service messages may be treated separately.

15. Changes

We may update this policy as features, legal requirements, or the operator structure change. The version and effective date will be shown on this page.
